Anouncing SimpleGlucose…. again :)
February 20, 2009
Where to start?
The past week or two has seen a huge change of direction for SimpleGlucose. I really should have posted about this earlier but I’ve been a little busy….
I always wanted to do SimpleGlucose as a web application. I am primarily a web developer these days, and I think that a simple personal data-centric application is crying out to be a web application: the user can enter data from many more places than just the home PC or laptop, everyone these days can run a web browser without too much trouble and the app is available to users of all major operating systems.
The benefits are obvious , but the problem was that initially I was under the impression that a health care web based would be a conflict of interest with my day job. However, after discovering that my employer wouldn’t mind me building it as a web app, I set about turning SimpleGlucose into a web app – two weeks away from the launch deadline that I have previously announced here. Yikes.
SimpleGlucose actually started life as a web app before I started my current day job, so I haven’t had to start from scratch – a lot of code has been written and tested, which is nice.
What all this means is that the launch has been delayed by a week so I can properly test the application before launching it. So…. SimpleGlucose will open its doors to the public at www.simpleglucose.com from the 8th of March 2009.
A placeholder site will be up at the website in a few days.
